Going, Going, Gone! Purvis Hits 3 Homers: Hitting three home runs in a game is usually something to celebrate, but there was no celebration to be found at Chase Field after the hitting barrage from Jeff Purvis. The Arizona Diamondbacks dropped the contest 5-3 to the Indianapolis Clowns, leaving Purvis with only a historical footnote as consolation.

Jeff is blessed with a natural home run swing so he gets the ball up in the air real quickly," Arizona manager Aaron Holt said after the loss. "It's just a shame we couldn't win the game, too. I'm sure it spoils the day a little for him."

Along with putting three in the stands, Purvis went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," he told reporters after the game. "Mostly you'll fail if you really try to hit one, but today I tried on the last one."

Jeff Purvis hit a solo-shot off Jordan Lopez in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jordan Lopez in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Jose Cortes in the 8th.

This year Purvis is batting .208 with 8 home runs and 24 RBIs. In 67 games he has scored 25 times.
