Glacier Bay, Alcatraz Island Confirm Swap: According to BNN there were mixed emotions by the players involved in the trade between the Glacier Bay Ice Pirates and the Alcatraz Island Jail Break. As part of the deal, the Ice Pirates swapped 22-year old minor league RHP Paul Carlson, 20-year old minor league 1B Vicente Méndez, and a 3rd round draft pick to the Jail Break getting 28-year old LHP Elvin Lawson and $1,000,000 in cash in return. The players indicated it was good to get a fresh new start in another city, but it was difficult to leave your friends on the old team.

Alcatraz Island will retain a portion of Lawson's remaining contract.

In 19 starts this year Lawson has posted 4 wins while suffering 6 losses. He has pitched 104 innings, allowed 118 hits, struck out 98 and has a 6.14 ERA.
