Deitz Goes on Rampage Against Rattlesnake: After a 5-hit effort to lead Newark's 18-4 victory over the Rio Grande Rattlesnake, left fielder Neil Deitz told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the 28 & Under's-level is really something special."

The 23-year-old player earned his accolades today at Newark Recreational Ballpark with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Rattlesnake.

"His swing is getting there," said Bulldogs skipper Randy von Retz, who spoke glowingly of Deitz after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Neil did that to perfection today."

Neil Deitz hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off David Dobson in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

So far this season Deitz is batting .319 with 10 home runs.
