Corn Huskers Ramón Román Will Miss Season: The doctors have spoken and Ramón Román of the Nebraska Corn Huskers didn't like what he heard. The 19-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Román sustained his season-ending injury during the San Diego Toreros game yesterday at Haymarket Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Nebraska medical staff reported Román had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6-7 months.

Season-to-date Román has rung up no wins and 9 losses in 12 appearances. He has an ERA of 9.48 and has fanned 24 batters in 43.2 innings.
