Cal State Fullerton Held Hitless by Provoost: Excitement reigned at Tony Gwynn Stadium today as San Diego State Aztecs hurler Ronnie Provoost tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 5-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments. "I'm just glad to be here," Provoost said. "Today I just went right at the Titans as hard as I could, as long as I could." Provoost chalked up 10 strikeouts and allowed 4 walks in his superb performance. "I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said San Diego State manager Tim Wallace. In 17 starts this year Provoost has crafted a 7-2 record and a 2.68 ERA. View Boxscore |
