The 27-year-old out of Newport News, Virginia captured the award with 48 saves in 68 relief appearances, 111 strikeouts in 81.1 innings and a record of 1 win and 2 losses to go with his 1.66 ERA.
"I'm thankful, it's a great honor," he told Baseball News Network.
Juan Berganza of the Atlanta Braves finished second in voting, while Rich Willis of the Toronto Blue Jays finished third.
