Beer Rips 3 HR: Houston Astros first baseman Seth Beer sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.

Prior to the start of today's contest with the Colorado Rockies, Beer told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.

"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."

The big day from Beer pushed the Astros past the Rockies, 10-0. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Beer told reporters after the game.

Seth Beer hit a three-run home run off Justin Verlander in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Justin Verlander in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Justin Verlander in the 5th and walked in the 7th.

So far this year Beer is batting .248 with 10 home runs.
