Arizona, Tampa Bay Agree to Swap: In an effort to add some depth to its roster, the Arizona Diamondbacks have swapped 20-year old minor league 3B Brit Hicks and 23-year old minor league RF Darrell Taylor to the Tampa Bay Rays for 26-year old LF Juan Encarnación. The Diamondbacks GM told reporters, "We saw a chance to upgrade our ball club and took it."
Tampa Bay will retain a portion of Encarnación's remaining contract.
