Abreu Raps New York for 5 Hits: Jose Abreu exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Progressive Field.
The Cleveland designated hitter had a field day in the 13-1 triumph over the New York Yankees, finishing 5-for-5.
"My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Abreu must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Jose Abreu singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Alfredo Flores in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 7th.
To date, Abreu has collected 138 hits for a .282 average. He has posted 20 home runs, scored 70 runs and driven in 86 runs.
