#300 for Vandehey: The Santo Domingo Rum Runners had something to celebrate today even though they dropped a 8-7 decision to Phoenix. The reason -- the splendid slugger James Vandehey hit his 300th career homer in today's contest at Brugal Park.
"I'm fortunate to be here," Vandehey told the media after the game. "The Rum Runners have a classy organization and some great fans. Homer #300 was for them."
Over his career Vandehey is batting .282 with 300 home runs and 837 RBIs. In 1592 games he has delivered 1651 hits, scored 790 runs, stolen 4 bases and gotten on base at a .358 clip.
